Home Visit Check: Is your building Slab on Ground?

There are many different foundation types for buildings. At Foundation Solutions Underpinning, we permanently fix our customers’ properties at a fixed price with superior screw pile underpinning. This solution is suited to buildings that are constructed onto a Concrete Slab, where the slab is cast onto and supported by the ground (Slab-on-Ground). This includes:

  • Stiffened Raft Slab: Concrete slab cast onto formwork elevated above the ground which may include concrete beams.

  • Waffle Pod Slab: Concrete slab on ground using polystyrene pods to form stiffening beams in each direction throughout the slab.

What we don’t service

Our expertise and guarantees are based on providing property foundation solutions using superior Screw Pile Method of underpinning. That means some situations or buildings are not suitable for us to work with, as shown in the images below. If you have one of these situations, we are well connected in the industry and will gladly refer you to a business we trust that the capability and capacity to help you. Things we don’t do are:

  • Buildings on stumps or piles

  • Concrete repair e.g. to stumps, footpaths and buildings

  • Ground improvement under driveways and hard-standing areas

  • Retaining walls repairs or replacements

#1 To Discover You Don’t Need Underpinning!

We are committed to leading the industry with our company values of honest advice, education and solutions that are verifiable. Our experts visit up to 50 homes a month in South East Queensland to do a complimentary preliminary property visit. On the majority of these, there is no requirement to do any underpinning. The damage is often minor with cracks or some form of non-structural cosmetic damage that does not require underpinning solutions. In our experience, people have shared with us this service has been invaluable to them and helped to alleviate uncertainty and concerns about their property’s foundations.

#2 To get an Expert to Answer All Your Questions

A complimentary preliminary property visit is a great chance to air your concerns and ask all your questions. Answers to your questions will give you clarity on your situation – and there is no obligation to do or pay anything. #3 Where Required, To get a Complimentary Fixed Fee Quote

Where we recommend further action is required based on our preliminary non-invasive visual inspection of the slab/foundations system of your property, we will then provide you with a complimentary preliminary Report. In 90% of those cases, we recommend that a Structural Engineering Report (also known as a Forensic Engineering Report) is completed prior to providing you with a fixed price quote. This step provides you with further certainty that the right solution is recommended for your property. This step could also clarify that your situation does not require underpinning. We manage the Structural Engineering Report for you with one of our independent partner engineers, so you don’t have to go searching for another trustworthy contractor.

What is the turnaround time?

  • We complete most home checkups within 3 days from the date of booking, depending on our work schedule.

  • On the day, we confirm what we found, what our recommendations are and any estimated costs (engineering reports, underpinning work).

  • Once the assessment is done, we deliver a quote within 24 hours. If a structural engineering report is required, this will precede the quote.
